Slip these pins in and out during maintenance or prototyping. Use them as pivots, hinges, shafts, jigs, and fixtures to locate or hold parts. If you play around a bit with the calculator ConKbot linked, the hole specs out at 1.985 H8 and there are *NO* H8 hole press fits in the associated tables. Plastic pins are a nonconductive and nonmagnetic alternative to metal dowel pins. I dont think the anodize was going to be an effective. Pins in aluminum sound like tooling that will live indoors. Find stainless steel ball lock pins with high quality at AliExpress. If the parts are used at elevated temps, yeah, you need to consider thermal expansion. Aluminum fastening locking slot, not easy to damage. On features larger than 1 inch, I would use 0.001 per inch nominal interference. The smallest pin diameter starts at 1/64. Our dowel pins all have a non-abrasive finish so they last as long as possible. Standard tolerances for our dowel pins are +.0001 / +.0003, unless specified as oversize. We understand how important tight tolerances are. Duralac I suspect the O.P's project is FUBARed and the hole tolerance is too coarse for any guaranteed press fit. Correct, but on common dowel pins this will work fine. We can make the highest-quality pins for any job. Aluminum + stainless steel is somewhat better as then only the aluminum corrodes, but if you want trouble-free reassembly in the future, if dissimilar metals are involved and one is a light alloy, you need to use an electrochemical corrosion inhibiting and passivating jointing compound, e.g. It only takes occasional condensing humidity for the interface to suffer from significant electrochemical corrosion, and the corrosion products of both aluminum and steel take up significantly more volume than the parent metal, so close fitting fasteners will seize in place. That's what happens if you use ordinary steel pins (or other fasteners) in aluminum.
